Sharon Hewitt
Sharon Woodall Hewitt (born September 1958),〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Sharon Hewitt, September 1958 )〕 is the incoming Republican member of the Louisiana State Senate for District 1, which encompasses portions of St. Tammany, Orleans, Plaquemines, and St. Bernard parishes, Louisiana, USA. In January 2016, she will succeed fellow Republican A. G. Crowe, who did not seek a third term in the primary election held on October 24, 2015.
In the primary, Hewitt, a resident of Slidell, defeated her lone opponent, fellow Republican and former member of the Louisiana House of Representatives, Pete Schneider of Lacombe, also in St. Tammany Parish. She received 15,144 votes (58.7 percent) to Schneider's 10,645 (41.3 percent).〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Results for Election Date: 10/24/2015 )〕 Hewitt and Schneider agreed in the campaign on the need to repair the state budget.

In 2011, Hewitt was defeated in the primary election for the District 1 seat on the Louisiana Board of Elementary and Secondary Education, which encompasses Jefferson, Orleans, and St. Tammany parishes, by fellow Republican James Garvey.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Results for Election Date: 10/22/2011 )〕 Coincidentallty, Garvey was reelected to BESE in the same primary in which Hewitt won her state Senate race.
